Taking money & committing insurance fraud
I had a flood in my condo due to a pipe breaking in the wall from a unit on the 3rd floor. I submitted to my insurance company who the check of the assestment that the insurance company came up with is being held in an escrow account and dispursed in small amounts. I hired Don Garrett from Bumblebee Contracting. I received the 1st check in the amount of $4, 769.78 which he took me to a check cashing place to cash and I handed the money over to him. He has never gave me any invoices or receipts that he said he would give. He was to perform restoration due to a mold issue. He did not do anything but take my cabinets down in the kitchen, the dry wall and spray some white stuff and then put up about 4 or 5 pieces of dry wall. When I realized he had been submitted false letters to the insurance, mortgage & association I fired him on Friday, Apr 1st. He then after I fired him told him I wanted at least half the money back that he took from me he told me no. He is intitled to some of that money for the little work he has done but not the total. I have been trying to call him to get 1/2 my money back so I can get my home back in some order that so I can go back in to live while or when the work is done because I had to hire a new contractor. I don't know what to do or how to go about this since no one seems to be able or won't help me. I feel this contractor should be investigated since he is truly committed fraud and taking peoples money. Another neighbor hired him to then fire him also since he submitted a ridiculous bill to him and our Association. We need help and guidance on how to stop this contractor for hurting and committing insurance fraud and taking peoples money. Thank You for your attention to this matter.
