Contract and fees
Be very careful when you join this gym not to sign any contract. There is no customer service at all and if you have any inquiries there is no one to call, everything is done throught corporate email. I went to freeze my account and they tell my wife thats no problem just go to the website and freeze it. They were still charging me though $10 each a month for NOT going to their gym and charged my daughter 7 months before I caught this ROBBERY. The answer they give you is so they can freeze your rate, None of us were in our contract period anymore so what fictituos rate are they freezing? then if you want to cancel you have to send a certified or registered letter, no im not joking this is the truth. I thought they were gonna say I had to call the White House. I know when a client wants to discontinue a service with me I would ask them if their is anyhting we can do to change your mind and if not I would like to thank you and let them go very easily so maybe they might come back at another time, not AGGRIVATE them.
BUYER BEWARE!!!

Staff etc.
WOW went overnight some months ago and then 24 hrs a month ago. The workers they hire actually are asleep while working! One worker laid down on the mats in the main room like it was a bed and slept. The next worker they hired after that worker went off to college (no, they didn't fire him) sleeps right at the desk a little ways in or in the office.
You have to wake him up to go tanning, get change, or ask for anything. He's difficult to wake up even. We are talking a sound sleep. This is when you can find him. Sometimes he's off somewhere sleeping. That means no tanning or anything else you want. Why pay for tanning when you can't go! Also, somebody could get trapped under a bench.
So, you complain to management, or try since she never answers the phone, and nothing gets done. You call to try to complain above her head and nobody will give you the phone number. They route you from telephone # to telephone #.
This is a clear cut example of how this gym runs. I mean the rudeness of the employees astounds me. The inefficient manager walks around w/ no shoes on and bright pink socks and sits around chatting w/ her employees while you wait to buy a simple water. Ohhh but if I was going to sign up she would run right over.
People of Warwick...sign up at Planet Fitness. It's a couple miles from WOW and is 24hrs and the same pricing. Run much better, looks much better, and is much cleaner.

refuse to cancel me without penalties
I was a member in good standing for many years with Workoutworkld in Nashua NH. When I needed to cancel my membership, there was never anyone at WOW who could take my termination at a time that I was able to go. After many attempts, I decided to cancel my automatic withdrawal at my bank. When I recieved a letter from ABC informing me that this action did not cancel my account, I called them and they said to send a letter. Which I did. I then received a bill for 2 months plus a "fee" totalling $78.98. I called and talked with 3 people, one above the other, all informing me that the fees stand and they will continue to charge me and untimately send me to collections. I offered to pay for one month, since that was the month I cancelled in. But the would not take the offer. I am not paying any of their fees. i have heard from several others and i have read other reviews on the internet that ABC is notorious for this type of customer disservice.

Impossible to cancel
I stopped the gym toward the end of my Physical Therapy. I was looking specifically to continue exercises to reduce out of pocket medical costs. So I meet with a sales rep, Mike, and he tells me $32.05 a month with $100 down. Inclusive was supposed to be two training sessions a month.
I had three major concerns. I told him I was on a tight budget because of graduate school so I couldn't afford "hidden costs". I told him I was relocating at some point out of state, and wanted to ensure ease of cancellation. The most important concern was the ability to cancel if my orthopedic doctor felt it wasn't working out with that level of exercise. I was told to just email him at any time to cancel with no penalties.
Lie #1 was the 2 inclusive training sessions. I went to the first session and met with a trainer. The session was all I expected until the end when I learned that she expected $2, 000 a quarter for these semi-monthly training sessions. It seems that although advertised, this is not a service provided and is at this exhorbitant cost.
Lie #2 I was winging it on my own, managed to overdo it. The orthopedic said - no more gym after a month. I held onto the membership another 8 months hoping my medical situation would change. It did not - so I called Mike in December 2009 to cancel.
Lie #3 In addition, I am in the process of moving out of state for work. They claimed there is a gym close to where I was moving that would accept membership. I stopped by to try to cancel at the MD location and the address is a small office building and the doors were locked, even during regular business hours.
I email Mike with no response. I sent a letter to the NJ gym I joined with no response. I sent a letter to the MD business office with no response to the cancellation.
I filed a dispute with my CC company, and unless WOW acknowledges they are going to reverse my credit. I have really good terms and rates and don't want to cancel the entire credit card because of WOW.
If the credit card company allows yet a 3rd charge in March, I plan to take them to small claims court.

liked it
I had heard things about WoW but after going to the gym and seeing it for myself. I don't see what all the fuss is about. I joined at a great price for myself my husband and oldest daughter. I like the private room for women and that I can watch my two younger kids in the babysitting room while I work out. I have recommended a few of my girlfriend and they seem to really like it too. Im excited that there will be more locations soon.

false advertising
Brought my family in and wanted them trained in how to use the equipment.
They promised me that would happen when I signed up.
They simply refused.
I am pondering how to respond to this.
Feel cheated.

contract
They promise you anything that you want (to hear) and then fail to provide.
Their advertising says that you get a free personal trainer, but that is not true.
They charge.
The managers tell you to talk to the head person, but he won't respond.
So you are stuck because the managers say "go to him" but he is not available.
Do yourself a favor and go to one of the established gyms.
This place is nothing special.
The receptionists chuckle at you when you try to get help.
I guess it is funny to know somebody got ripped off and can't do much about it.
I think they are just crooks.
They probably should be turned over to the FBI because they are doing this across the country.
