Worlds Foremost Bank apparently is the financial branch of Cabela's that manages the Cabela's Visa credit card. Six months ago I received an e-mail promotion for the Visa card that promised 25 Cabela's club points immediately on acceptance of the online application and another 25 points after the first charge.
Problems began immediately with the 50 Cabela's points promotion when the online application persisted in giving me an error message that PO box address were not accepted when I was not entering a PO box address. After several weeks of being told repeatedly that there were "problems" with the on line application process and to keep trying, I was referred to the "bank" to have the application taken over the phone. The person taking the phone application confirmed that I would be told after taking the application if it was accepted and if it was, I would immediately receive my first 25 points. After finishing the application I was referred to a second person who was to tell me if the application was accepted. Instead, the second person told me that the person who makes the decisions was "out of the office and I would be hearing from them "soon". Soon was 3 weeks later when I received the card in the mail. By then I was understandably skeptical of the whole process, so I made a test charge and paid for it online within the first week of receiving the card.
I won't bore you with the ridiculous details of the subsequent 5 months and 8 phone calls with associated explanations and promises from the "bank" which has resulted in receiving only 25 of the promised 50 points. The one exception I will make is to describe the last person I spoke with. A "supervisor" named Morgan at bank extension 2488 who when I politely expressed skepticism of why I should accept his promise to fix the problem when others promises had not been fulfilled, he replied, I thought rudely "What do you want me to do, put it in writing". Today when I again spoke to him, he said that the second 25 points were not applied because I had not performed the test charge within the first 30 days after receiving the card. I pointed out that the record clearly demonstrated that that was not correct but that Cabela's had finally worn me down and that even if i was finally awarded the second 25 points that I would never again use the card and asked that it be canceled.
The main concern that I have with all of this other than that I must be a certified compulsive to have pursued it this long, is that only one person out of the 12 different phone conversations, expressed even the smallest concern or sympathy over the considerable absurdity of the whole process.
