I became a member in 2007 with my then wife. I work in NC. When I signed the contract, I was told I could put my membership on hold at any time. That worked perfectly because I travel a lot. When I came back to CA after 9 months, I went to the gym because I noticed they had been charging me the whole time when I was suppossed to be on hold. I was well past my contract fullfillment and took my wife off and they told me they could not refund my money but they would stop charging my credit card and would give me 18 months of gym usage to which I agreed with. They told me they would call me the following week. I never got the phone call. Meanwhile my mother got sick with cancer and I went to take care of her thinking that the worst that would happen is I would lose out on my months of membership I had already paid for. Here is the kicker... I went there and they were still charging me full price for my ex and I on my checking account! I then told them of the chat I had with the ex manager and the new manager called "corporate" and told me not only would they not refund me my $ from the last time I came in to visit, they wouldn't credit my membership for time I already paid for on an account that was on hold!
This is not the first time I have heard of people having problems with this gym. A friend of mine cancelled their membership and still was getting charged. She had to get a lawyer to fix the situation and now I have to as well. World's Gym can kiss my ***.
