I am one of the hundreds of people ripped off by www.tvboxset.com, AKA Garcia Media Group, AKA SXR.CA. On August 3rd, 2007, I placed an order with said company for a Wonder Years DVD box set (Order #24534). They immediately charged my credit card $71.98. I of course NEVER received the item despite several emails. The charge showed up on our credit card as "sxr.ca". When I did a domain search on this company, I found the following:
Mr Pietro Paolo D'Ascanio ([email protected])
President
SXR Tradeshow & Conference Solutions Inc.
4480 Cote De Liesse
Suite 303
Mont Royal QC H4N 2R1 Canada
Phone: 514-214-8254
Fax: 1-888-797-7973
When I called and spoke with this guy, he said yes he made the charge but they are only the "processing agent" for tvboxset.com. But he is a liar. For one, the fax number for his company is the SAME as tvboxset.com's old phone number (the company and their web site are defunct as of December, 2007). For another there is a listed contact email of [email protected]. I called and spoke with D'Ascanio again a couple of weeks ago and after a heated exchange he screamed "The money's gone! All of it!!!" Hmmm. I wonder where it could be? Maybe in the pricks bank account--where it went after it was fraudulently charged from my credit card.
Maybe somebody with more time and resources than I have can go after this clown. I see from ripoffreport.com, complaints.com, complaintsboard.com, badbusinessbureau.com, www.epinions.com, etc. that hundreds of other people have been ripped off by this guy so the monetary claim would be quite substantial (ripoffreport.com alone has over 185 claims in against these guys!).
Be aware that these guys are professional scam artists. Meaning that after one site is shut down, they launch a new one with the SAME content (down to the products offered, FAQ's, and product descriptions) and a different domain name. I found a complaint site that listed a few of them (most if not all are now defunct) 1. DVDcollections.tv; 2. Allmyfavoriteshows.com; 3. TVboxset.com; 4. E-mediastore.tv; 5. RareDVDs.tv; 6. DvdAvenue.tv; 7. EmpericalFilm.tv; 8. InternationalFilm.tv; 9. AmericanDVD.tv; 10. MyMediaOutlet.net; 11. dvdigniter.com; 12. tvdvdplanet.com; 13. tvaddicts.tv; 14. dvdtvweb.com; 15. ultimatedvdshop.com; 16. Dvdcraze.tv; 17. TVDVDMania.tv; 18. dvddiesel.com; 19. tvmilk.com; 20. tvshowplanet.net; 21. tvseries.tv; 22. tvondisc.com; 24. dvdcollectors.com; 25. www.thedvdplanet.org
26. www.dvdcollections.tv
As complaints accumulate, they abandon their old web sites and reopen under new names. As far as I know, the most recent site www.dvdcollections.tv is still active. By way of example, if you do a way back search for TVboxset.com and compare (for example) the FAQ's page with this page:
www.dvdcollections.tv/pages.php?pageid=1, they are exactly the same.
They offer television series box sets that are not commercially available, which seems to be the perfect lead in to their scam. Since you can't "legitimately" buy products (such as The Wonder Years series) elsewhere, you are thrilled to find a site that offers what you are looking for so there is no competition. So you are even willing to give your credit card information to am online company that is not well known (that offers buyer protection) like Ebay or Amazon. Too good to be true... and of course it is.
Maybe if enough people call Mr. Pietro Paolo D'Ascanio (or email to [email protected] and cc to [email protected] and [email protected]) at 514-214-8254 he will at least have to change his phone number (this is his personal cell phone number!!) Fraud!
