Wyndham Resorts Reviews

Fraud
Paid $150.00 for hotel plus $1000.00 in rental car, airfare and meals to view "resort property" in Lake Tahoe last August. When we arrived, there was no package in regards to the seminar we were to attend nor did anyone at the hotel know anything about this company. We tried, with the assistance of the management staff, to contact Wyndham resorts but we were unable to speak to a live person. Two days after we left, Wyndham resorts finally called and stated that we could attend a seminar that day. Too late, we were already four hours away!
I have contacted via mail, phone calls and email Peggy, at Wyndam Resorts in regards to being reimbursed for my expenses only to be told, "We're working on it". I was also promised a $175.00 AE gift card for attending but never received that as well! Company is a total scam, in my opinion!
Trapped into time share ownership December 17, 2010
no way out of the time share trap
Fairfield resorts became Wyndham resorts and so on ... Timeshare traps are time share traps. It doesn't matter what they are called or how they are organized. Once they got your (capital) money there is no way out. They have it for life with monthly fees for maintenance. In our opinion, any kind of business with even a remote resemblance should be outlawed.

Misleading sales pitch
Wyndham Resorts (as a result of a sale in Newport RI) has failed to respond to complaints I have phoned and faxed to their customer service. Hired promotion companies had misrepresented offers and sales individuals have issued free ticket vouchers that are not redeemable as per sales pitch. having purchased a time share and been given something called VIP status, it is most unpleasant to have treated in such a manner. There is no longer a sales department at the initial location, so there is apparently no one to verify or speak to address the method of providing information about the common pitch. We should have withdrawn immediately, since at the time of sale it was difficult to even get the promised airline vouchers which are highly suggestive of consumer choice. Fed up and stuck.

customer service
If you are not currently a Wyndham customer, do not let them hook you. They were billing my account automaticly and billed early causing me to have an overdraft. As if this wasn't bad enough, they attempted to rebill without me knowing, and caused more problems, instead of calling me to arrange to properly make this payment. Well, when the payment was supposed to have posted, I called them to confirm. It turns out that they had not presented it to the bank, and what do you know, even more problems. Then came the phone calls, at least six a day, with very rude customer service. Please know what you are getting into before you purchase from them. THey are a scam, and even folks who have worked for them have posted this as well.

Deceptive Business Practices and refusal to cancel contract within 6 calendar days
I had to call Wyndham hotels regarding a hotel reservation. In the course of the conversation, the reservationist asked me if I'd be interested in a special progarm Wyndham was offering since I was a valued customer. He connected me to what I later found out was their Wyndham time share unit. They offered me a two night stay in Vegas for $150 on the condition I tour their new Vacation resort in Vegas for two hours. I agreed and was charged the $150. Later I found out that where I was staying was at Harrah's Casino and I had to not only pay the $150 but also the room taxes. My two night mid-week stay cost more through Wyndham than had I simply booked Harrah's on my own though their online specials!

I was also promised a certificate for a free night at any Wyndham property once I attended the tour as well as some coupons for free car rentals. These I never received even though I asked four times at the end of the presentation where my gifts where. The salesperson said, "We'll get them for you as soon as we're finished here." At the end as I was leaving, I asked on more time and was told "Oh those are sent to you later on."

Well it gets worse. We declined the "timeshare deal" but the salesperson did talk us into their Discovery package which he kept referring to as a trial offer. I kept responding that I would not agree to anything unless I had ample time to actually receive written materials and have the ability to look them over. I guess you can call me stupid, but the salesperson assured me that after I signed, I had six calendar days to cancel if I didn't like the agreement. It took me less than one day to realize this was a terrible agreement and followed their cancellation requirements to the letter. I sent the materials back via Certified Mail, tracked the return and return receipt signature. I wrote a detailed cancellation letter and I also faxed them a cancellation -- all within one business day. I even made certain I kept a transmission verification of the fax. One week later my credit card was charged and now I'm embroiled in a dispute with Wyndham Vacations. Don't go anywhere near this company! Don't even accept their tour. Sign nothing with them and don't let them anywhere near your credit card. Visa has gone to bat for me, but the entire situation has been time consuming, frustrating and is still not resolved.

financial accounting practices
Stuck with a timeshare that we shouldn't have bought -- for the amount we use it versus maintenance fees and payments -- however; trying to pay it down but can never get a statement which reflects the actual payment we send it. Have sent certified letters to the financial managers but never get responses; have asked for explanation and actual accounting -- where is the extra money going -- it never shows up on statements. How does one get a response and to what governmental authority do we complain? Thanks

scammed
Was lied to repeatedly. Was told I could rid myself of timeshare in Florida and that my payments would be reduced from almost $400 a month to about $175. Told I would get interest free loan through Bank of America through RCI. Instead, Wyndham applied for a credit card for me, without my knowledge and credit card is 14.99 per cent. The timeshare in Florida still stands, and now want me to pay an additional $175 a month.
Representative who lied to me, continued to lie to me afterward for a month, telling me my loan was being processed.

Get Up & Go a FAKE!!!
While on vacation in San Diego I was wrangled into listening to a timeshare pitch for Wyndham Resorts on the guarantee that I would receive a free vacation to Lake Tahoe. When I called to make my reservation I was told that they had to make "cut backs" and Tahoe was no longer available along with every other one of the over 12 destinations that they guaranteed besides just two which would have had me staying at the Comfort Inn. Real Classy Wyndham, Real Classy.

All points lost after 18 months
All points earned in Wyndham Rewards program (formerly Trip Rewards) are lost after 18 months of inactivity with no notice given by the company. I was never notified of these terms and lost over 56, 000 points worth a substantial amount of money. As a small business owner I needed a room for frequent trips to supervise a construction project located 300 miles away. Part of my decision to always stay at the local Days Inn was participation in their rewards program. After my experience with loosing all points - for my next project which will involve lodging for a crew of 7 - I will NOT patronize any Wyndham property. Their pettiness has cost them a repeat customer for life!

Fraud and lies
I have owned points with Fairfield Resorts since 2004. They were joined with Wyndham about a year ago. Since then, no one there can help you. Here are some of the things that have happened to me:

1. July 2005, we wanted our maintenance fees changed to not be direct debited from our account, just bill us by mail. I contacted them 2 times a week for 6 months before they stopped the debts (still never seen a paper bill and it is Oct 2008).

2. My husband and I both loss our jobs at the same time (worked at same place) in Jan 2006. We called Fairfield and they said they would mail us a "Deed in Leu" in 3 months & all we have to do is sign & mail back. We did get the papers in Feb 2006 & signed, got notarized, and mailed back in the postage paid envelope they sent with the papers. We even faxed a copy of what we were mailing to them. In April 2006, we called to see what the progress was, they told us that they never mailed anything & the person I talked to did not exist & that I was a liar! They claimed I made everything up. I drove to Star Island Resort and handed them a copy of what I sent & told them what was said in the phone call. I was told everything would be taken care of. Three weeks later, I received another copy of the deed in Leu to sign/notarize/mail back. I just did everything again & mailed a copy of the 1st one & the original of the 2nd one. June 2006, I received a 3rd copy of the same papers & this is still going on & on (it is now Oct 2008). They still tell me everytime that I am a liar & these people that I have called (& seen in person) do not exist!

3. Since July 2005, I have called the help desk a minimum of 2 times a week, ask the same questions everytime, and no one has yet given me the same answer twice. It has been more than three years, I just want to get rid of this headache!

I have a million more stories and problems with this company. I advise no one to buy any points with them.
