no free vacation Do Not attend presentat
July 9, 2009
cheap vacation in exchange for going to presention
DO NOT fall for the "go to a 90 minute timeshare presentation and get a discounted vacation". My daughters and I were at a home and garden show where the Wyndam Vacation Resorts (WVR) had a booth . The lady promised a 2night hotel stay and sea world tickets, plus throw in 2 dinner tickets for $150 and all I have to do is attend a 90 minute presentation. I told her ok, were weren't interested in a timeshare but would go for the deal (ha). We had nothing but hassles in booking a room, would call for dates and call back 2 days later and dates were gone or the could not view that time block anymore. Finally getting a day by the corporate office requesting one due to my frustration. Before leaving for trip and to verify only "90 minutes right" and they were "flexible" with times (joke). Get to the check in point and to and oh they only timea available were when we were departing for our trip. The rude girl at the counter assured me this was flexible, I could attend or be charged $153 ( I already paid $150) so I didnt want to lose $300, so we took the time. Picked up tickets to Sea World SanAntonio and confirmed 90min presention. The next day get there and get a JERK salesperson (that I think had just smoke crack, he could stay awake- this was 10am) We were up front said we just came for vacation deal (ha) and were not intrested and told him the hassles we had. He told us he would give us the "short" version(ha) it took 30minutes to fill out form with him repeating questions over and over. He didnt like my response & would re-ask. (confirming by suspion he smoked crack he didnt seem to remember that I answered him) I getting frusted asked him to go to next question as he promised short version. He continued to stall by repeating stuff. Now I am raising my voice and pointing my finger in his face. Finally to a 10 min video and supposedly to a 10 min tour and then out of there(ha). The saleman almonst tells you this is free resport offer, oh yea you still have to pay airfare/gas by vehicle and food, etc. They make is seem like the money you pay for timeshare pays for everything. After video he continue to tourcher us by more questions. By this time smoke is coming out of my ears. I asked him about the tour he promised so we could go as my child was not feeling good. Again stalling by arguing back at me and playing dumb. I asked for Manager and didnt get one. one hour later, I told him he had 30 more minutes then our duty of the 90min was filled. Well if I didnt cooperate then it would take 120min. At this time I stood up and and told him he was a liar and was leaving and didn't care if I had to pay the whole thing out of pocket. The manger finally comes over after me making a scene for about 30mins. ask about problem told him details. the guy was not moving forward thru presentation, keeps stalling on questions, making me frustrated. He agress to let us go and give voucher to hotel. This could have been more pleseant if the salesman would have just moved on. Moral of story. Pay for trip yourself. The hassel and pressure sales are not worth the stress or few dollar savings and being tied down to the commitment of the presentation.

Deceptive Sales Methods and Fraud
In August of 2007, Mr and Mrs. S from Florida visited Maui, Hawaii and took in a Wyndham timeshare sales presentation. Their salesman was Brian Alazawi. Their complaint is outlined below. Wyndham has been typically non-responsive:
"1. RESALE AND INVESTMENT VALUE
We were told that because the Waikiki Beach location was new, that it would immediately have a high resale value. Brian Alazawi said that this would be a sound financial investment for us, saying we could always get our money back through and then some from resale. This is simply not true.
2. FUTURE RESORTS
We were told that one of the reasons that it would be good for us to own was that Wyndham had plans to build a resort on Maui, soon. We would have access to this with our Hawaii points while others would not. This was a misrepresentation.
3. PERSONAL COORDINATOR
Brian Alazawi claimed that he would always be assigned to our account to help us with the program. We later found that this is not the case.
4. BUYING RESALE POINTS TO REACH VIP
If we wanted to achieve VIP later, Brian told us, we could buy points on the resale market to get that status. He said that we could become Platinum VIPs for less than $10, 000 at Bonnet Creek, if we first purchased there at Maui. We later found that this was untrue.
5. EXTRA HOLIDAYS RENTALS
Brian told us that we could rent out our points that would earn us enough money to pay our maintenance fees and make extra money as well. This was part of why this purchase was a great investment and was an incentive for us to buy it. We have found that this is not possible.
6. EVERY OTHER YEAR MISREPRESENTATION
We purchased an every other year program, which gave us a deed for 115, 500 points. Brian told us that we shouldn’t worry about this, that we’d be able to travel to Hawaii for a week every year by banking half our points through RCI. We have found out now that we cannot get Hawaii weeks in this way. He also said we’d be able to travel to any of Wyndham’s resorts in any location for a week for 28, 000 points, so we’d get more than just one week every other year.
7. TAX WRITE OFF
We were told that buying a timeshare was a tax advantage; that it was like owning a second home and we’d benefit by writing off our mortgage interest.
8. NO PUBLIC OFFERING STATEMENT
We have talked to other owners who we have seen with books that describe their resort and contain floor plans. Apparently, this is a document that is supposed to be a part of our purchase. We have never received a public offering statement for this resort.
9. RIGHT TO REVIEW AND RESCIND OUR CONTRACT SUBVERTED
Before we were to receive our ‘gifts’ and immediately after our documents were signed, Brian and his manager packaged up our documents and marched Scott to the Post Office where they paid to have our documents sent to our home in Florida. They said that way they’d be there safely waiting for us. We arrived in Hawaii on the 18th of August and purchased on the 27th. We did not arrive home until the 2nd of September. We reviewed our documents and read that the rescission period had expired on the 31st of August. They withheld our gifts until this mailing was complete.
10. HAWAII POINTS NEEDED TO STAY IN HAWAII
We were told that in order to stay in any of the Wyndham resorts in Hawaii we had to own points in Hawaii. Not only that, but that our points “traded” better and were more valuable in gaining access to mainland resorts."
Beware of false promises and claims by timeshare salespersons.

Horrible company
The sales rep at the Wyndham Vacation Resort in Sevierville, Tennesse committed fraud by lying to my husband and I about a timeshare we purchased through them. We were told that we were trading our timeshare from RCI to a timeshare through Wyndham. The sales rep from Sevierville, Davis Linkous supposedly spoke to his manager and told us that we could sell our timeshare from RCI to Wyndham and only own with Wyndham. When we signed our contract we were told that we would only have one payment through Wyndham which was around $50 less than what we were currently paying through RCI. After returning home we found out that the transaction did not take place as we were told. Our bank was being charged for both timeshares. After calling RCI we found out that this transaction could not be legally performed. We immediately stopped all payments to Wyndham and began trying to cancel the timeshare. After many calls and emails, the Wyndham company did not cancel as we requested. Now they are sending us letters about a collection agency.

Terrible company
I got sucked into a sales pitch at Wyndam Waikiki Beach Walk resort, I returned the next day and told them that I could not really afford the contract, then the real pressure was on and since I had another appointment I ended up keeping the contract. It should have been voided. Now it's two months later and I'm told that since I did not do auto-pay I would be charged another 1/2% intrust on top off the already ripoff intrust they charge. I was never informed of this until I called and asked why the payment was $15 higher than I was quoted. This is the worst ripoff co. I have ever come across and I would warn anyone to avoid doing business with this co. Their contracts are very involved and when your on vacation you will tend not to read them completely for if you did you would find your self on a one way street gong the wrong way. They have you by the short hairs with no way out.

Terrible company
After five years in the timeshare industry primarily working for Wyndham Vacation Resorts I wanted to respond to a few responses I have seen on this website concerning this company. First of all, let me say that what many of you are saying is true about the lack of customer service. The sales reps from the front line to the back line are told they are there for one purpose and one purpose only and that is to sell timeshares. In daily sales meetings the employees are told it's not what you say but, it's how you say it to the consumer. This and the fact that management does not 'police ' the representatives is another. You are allowed to get away with what ever it takes to get the job done until you are put on the hot seat.
You have managers who are some of the most amazing creative writers you will ever meet when it comes to their financial predictions of what their units can produce and will push their people to write these ridiculous numbers - no matter the cost.
After writing this you must be wondering why a person would stay and what kind of person would stay. This company on the surface takes very good care of its employees..ie.. full benefits, good income, liberal time off, etc. They are always considered one of the top 100 companies to work for. I am not alone when I say this that there are a lot of people employed for this company who perform their job very well and take pride in doing well.
In reading the one comment written about one of the representatives Ms Prevatt I was somewhat surprised. She always took a hard line with making sure that any individuals she spoke with understand everything that was happening and how they could as an owner proactively protect their interests.
I too worked on the phones with the owners and find it amazing how many individuals would make a major purchase like this without thinking it over. Just one question - wouldn't walking away from a $50.00 premium be a better situation than a $40, 000 timeshare you don't, won't need?
The concept of timeshare is wonderful and works for those who truly take the time to learn how to use their product - no matter who is selling the product.
It is unfortunate that this company doesn't recognize the importance of quality customer service, owner education, etc. It is true this company has had many challenges in the past and if only realized that chasing the almighty dollar and ' saying whatever it takes ' IS unethical, dishonest and a shame.
I like so many others who wanted to do a fair and decent job have come to realize that all the things this company says it stands for are untrue. I will never seek a job in this industry again.

Getaway Scam
Wyndham owners, do you get calls every day from Wyndham. Did you answer and they were offering you a discounted getaway to learn about how to manage your pts, better utilize your timeshare? Thats me...
I have a confession:
I currently work for Wyndham Vacation Resorts in their bring a friend dept. The sales reps who call the owners and sell discounted packages to owners to bring a friend along are liars. We use creative ways of telling the owner that they are not going to a sales presentation, rather it is education on how to use their timeshare.
We knowingly mislead owners daily in order to sucker them into buying the package and bringing along qualifing guests (who we have no interest in selling...yeah right) on the false promise of helping them better manage their points, get into the resorts they want to visit... Put them in a position of strength as manager Maurice Brooks says. But, it is lies. We all know they will get nothing more than a 2hr beat down to purchase more pts. But there is no other way to sell the packages.
I feel bad for all the owners travel plans ruined by our false pretenses.

Not as advertised
After purchasing a one week vacation rental from a gentleman on Ebay, my wife and I traveled over 700 miles by SUV from New Jersey to Wyndham Seagate, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Once we arrived at the reservation counter, we noticed immediately that they wanted us to participate in a selling of time shares scheme. They offered "gifts" to schedule an hour or better with some staff members to conduct a "survey" of the room and properties amenities. We were polite, but was really not looking to waste time on something that was not in our plans at the time we bid on the vacation package.
After being given our room keys and left to "lug" our luggage from our SUV (which No parking spaces could barely fit), we arrived in a room that was NOT nearly as nice as was described in the Ebay auction. The room was not even cleaned properly and human hair was left on bathroom fixtures and on the kitchen floor! The beds were rumpled and was missing bed spreads. The most serious of misrepresentations in the Ebay listing was the floor plan of the room. It showed clearly a two room floor plan with multiple balconies that would face the ocean. Our room had one single balcony facing another building across from ours. The "alley" that separates the two building has a "lagoon" filled with green moss and water scum. The views were terrible as was the customer service once we complained about this situation.
At first, the women that signed us into the resort (5 star resort "was advertised") tried to make it look like she was concerned and gave me a room key for another suite. I looked at it to see that it was slightly better than the first unit, but directly across the same "lagoon" water feature. My wife came over to inspect the newly offered room and made the decision we would take it because it was 90% cleaner than the first one offered to us. Going back to the women at the "customer service" counter to let her know that the room would be fine, she alerted us to the fact that she gave me the wrong room to look at. I was upset further, as was my wife, who had been in tears after seeing the first room. Taking another key now to inspect a third room, we insert the key in the door and open it to find two women already in the room! We apologized and explained what we have been through ourselves and giving them the key that opened their door. They were very upset with their room as well as the intrusion by me, my wife, and two small children. When we returned to the women to tell her of our complete dissatisfaction and aggravation. We asked what was going to be done now? and was told that we were "back to the drawing board"!! This is now a half of a day of moving luggage from trunk to room and back to trunk of car, inspecting rooms that were NOT available to us anyway, and being told there was now NOTHING they can do or offer!
Go to www.WyndhamResortsSuck.com to read full details and to see digital pictures of room as well as pictures shown on Ebay listing. Future videos and photos from all who want to contribute their experiences in one of the many Wyndham Worldwide properties.
