Unanswered calls
My husband and I went to New Jersey during Christmas of 2008. While staying at the Skyline Tower, Wyndham badgered us to do the 30- 45 minute update meeting with one of there sales people. (His name is Ian.) We told them that we couldn't afford to buy anymore points but they assured us that they would not force us into anything. Ian came over to our room on Dec. 31. 2008 stating that on Jan. 1, 2009 point prices were going up and that this was our last chance for locking in the current rate. We told him we couldn't afford it and he suggested to put it on a credit card, then rent out the property and in no time we would be able to pay the credit card and be owners of our timeshare. Thankfully I said no. Then he asked if we wouldn't like to own twice the amount of points we had and pay what we are currently paying for our timeshare. "I'm a good guy and I don't want you to get into something you can't pay back, " he said. Well this "good guy" suggested we take out an equity home line of credit with our bank. He said that we had 45 days to cancel if the bank did not approve the loan. All we had to do was call him and he promised that everything would go back to the way it was. He even gave us his cel. number to call him. Well we called our bank ASAP and when we got back home on the 3rd of January, 2009 we waited to hear from our bank. On the 5th of January, 2009 our bank declined our loan and we called Ian a few times a left a message but you guessed it, he never called back. About 4 days after calling and leaving messages for Ian, I proceeded to email Wyndham and they said that we had 7 days after signing to write and cancel our contract. I told them we tried calling Ian but they said there was nothing they could do. In about 2 weeks we will have to start paying for a timeshare we told them we could not afford to pay. I have rheumatoid arthritis and asthma and my husband and I take care of his grandmother who has Alzheimers and lives with us. How are we supposed to be able to pay for this rip off and why doesn't anybody do or say anything to this company that is causing so much pain and suffering at a time of financial crisis. Can somebody please help us?
