Thanks for confirming my feelings about that band of thieves at Xcite.

I went to possibly purchase a Hyundai XG3..? Having a fragile financial state, I wanted to make sure that I would get a car that was not going to be a money "sink hole" after purchase. I insisted on seeing their "inspection report", Carfax AND being able to take the car to a mechanic BEFORE purchasing. At first, they had the gall to say I could purchase it and if my mechanic found things wrong, I could bring it back. HA! I laughed. Not on your life.

Oh, I was also working with the devil duo (first, Jon and then Pat Bender).

Jon was so trying to push the sale that, after suggesting this, did not want to take a deposit to hold the car 'til Monday to be seen by a mechanic. I did not bite; saying "if it is sold over the weekend, it was not meant for me."

Over the weekend, I found the exact car online for $1000 less!!

Monday (late afternoon), I went with my nephew who sold cars for many years, to further negotiate. I am now armed with internet info. Enter Pat Bender to the mix! I still insisted on seeing THEIR inspection report and CARFAX. After 10-15 minutes, Jon came with a report that--of course--showed what they wanted. I noticed the copied report did not come from the mechanics they said earlier was "the company they use to do their inspections."

I seriously negotiated until we reached a comfortable price point (below even the internet price). My nephew did another test drive with Jon. Pat was now working with/on me alone (divide and conquer?) I'm sure he thought he was "putting the final period on this "cash" deal.

I still insisted on being able to take it to a mechanic. Now they agreed; as they could see it was a "no go" without it. I could get the car the next day for the mechanic.

I went the next day and Jon was with a customer on a test drive. Another rep was quick to give me the keys. I chose to wait for Jon.

While waiting, I had time to really check the car for anything I had not seen before. Thank God. I saw several dots of rust on the hood (at the grill) and on the roof (at the windshield). There was a guy "tapping" out a dent in another car, so I asked him what he thought of it. He let me know that rust can take over quickly if not fixed. I looked for other things. I saw that the underside of the bumper in the front was badly cracked!!

When Jon showed up, I pointed out these things to him and asked what they were willing to do to fix them. His response: "I'm not saying that we will fix them or that we won' fix them."

I told him I no longer wanted to talk with him; as he could not make a final decision. I needed to speak with the owner.

The guy who wanted to give me the keys came out saying he is the manager and spouted off crap about what they "could have sold the car for." I told him I was not at all interested in that, and that what I agreed to buy it for definitely does not include it being rusted or having a broken bumper.

I did noticed this other chain smoking guy (which I now believe was the owner or key businessman) lurking around waiting to see what happened.

They wanted me to buy it anyway. I told him only if they fixed it. He indicated that they "were not gonna put no more money into a used car especially after paying for an inspection even though I was going to have a mechanic look at it." Mind you, an inspection is required for any car they sell.

I told him then by all means sell it to someone else and said NO DEAL! I was fortunate enough to be able to walk away from those scoundrels with my money still in my pocket. I'm sorry Sweet2th was not as fortunate.
