I placed an order on February 27, 2010 for a free trial (plus shipping of about $4.00) with a 10 day trial period and $87.47 monthly subscription fee if not cancelled before the conclusion of the trial period. I received the trial product on March 5, the same day that they placed a hold on $87.47 of my funds. This was only day 7 (if you count the order date) of the trial period. I contacted SM Brand on March 5 and spoke to their customer service department who took my cancellation information. The customer service representative provided me with a password, digital signature and her name and advised that she would be sending an email that I needed to click on the link which would take me to a website to confirm my cancellation with the information she provided. 24 hours later, I have still not received the email so I called customer service at XM Brand again. I spoke with another representative, who also did not speak very good English, and was advised that the email would take 24-48 hours to be received. At 48 hours, this will put me at day 9 (again if you include the order date - which who knows with this company). I asked the second representative how long it would take after I returned the as yet unreceived email before they released the hold on my funds. She advised it would take up to 3 days for her company to release my funds and I must allow my bank an additional 15 days based on the bank's procedures. The time it takes them to release my funds takes me over the 10 days trial period. This hold that was placed on my funds was unauthorized as I had not concluded the trial period. I had not even been able to try the product before the unauthorized hold was placed. What is wrong with these people? I clicked on a link for a product that was reported on by several of the major networks and several well known celebrities, but did not pay attention to the company until it came up on my bank statement. I should have known better. That being said, I know this is a venue to report my mishaps, I hope that this information is seen by people who can make them change their business practices. This is just wrong what they do!
