I bought a new car and got a 3 month free trial of XM radio. I liked on of the stations and called in after the 3 month to sign up for 1 year. While I was on hold I was asked if I want the promotion receiver. Well my boyfriend had mentioned that he liked the music and so signed up for an extra receiver with XM radio on 7/10/2008 @ 10:04am, order# U8T6Q000, so my boyfriend could enjoy the music as well. I was told I will be charged $6.99 for one year and if the system does not work I can cancel anytime. I received an email confirmation from the sells person and saw the receiver would only work with a tape player. My boyfriend’s car does not have a tape player only a CD player in his car. I emailed the sells person back at 7/10/2008 @ 10:43am and told him we do not have a tape player in the car and what can we do now? (I have a copy of the email to them) He called me back and assured me not to worry if we can’t get it to work I can send the receiver back and cancel. Than I received my order received and shipped email 7/10/2008 @ 1:14pm.
Well, I got the receiver and the receiver was for a car with a tape player and of course did not work in our car. I called XM to cancel and after being on hold for 38 min. I was told that I signed up and I agreed to stay with them for 1 year and there is nothing I can do about that.
I was furious but decided I will learn from this and stick the 1 year out. Than we bought another car one month later with an already existing XM system so I called waited again for ever on hold and asked if I could have the service for the not working receiver moved to my new car with a XM hook up. No, I can’t do that and pretty much I am stuck with the receiver payments for a year. I was outraged again.
On 10/15/2008 I noticed a $20.52 charge from XM for some sort of family plan service. So I called and explaining my issue again and asked why I am getting charge $20.52 for a not working service. I asked to get that money back. I was on the phone for 48 min and transferred from one person to another till I said you know what let me pay the $100 cancelation fee to be done with this. I was transferred again and after a 15 minute wait a representative answered. He said he can’t here me and he hang up on me. I called again and waited again and this time while waiting another 32 min I was just disconnected.
I went online and submitted my cancelation via email to them 10/15/08 @ 1:02 PM.
(I have a copy of the email to them)
I told them I want to cancel that not working receiver once and for all and I will happily pay the $100 cancelation fee to never have to deal with XM Radio regarding the not working product and to not renew my cars subscription after it will expire 7/10/2009.
Nothing happened again no call no email back nothing.
02/04/2009 I receive an email stating my account is up soon for automatic renewal. What???
I called and they told me my account will expire on 7/12/2009 and if I don’t call that day they will automatically renew my subscription for another year. WHAT???? Ok, that is it I said and asked to cancel both of my accounts right now.
I was transferred to the cancellation department again and guess what 43 min into waiting I was disconnected. What a surprise.
I called again 21 min later a customer service person answers again says he needs to transfer me and wow I only had to wait 29 min this time on hold. A real person answered. I said I want to cancel both of my accounts today. Well $200 cancelation fee since I am canceling 2 accounts. What??? My cars account is pre paid so they have the money already.
I called my bank today and told them I lost my credit card and I need a new one.
Let’s see how they will renew my account now.
