Yellow Pages Advertising. For the last 20 years I have done yellow pages advertising
with Alltel than it became Windstream. In the past...I have never had a problem
with the advertising. Every fall I got a call ...we reviewed the ad...talked pricing...
they sent me a contract and I paid.
This last fall of 2009, I never got a call. So I called them In Early 2010 asking
about the yellow pages advertising. I told the Customer Service Representative
I wanted to cancel for 2010 because my customers were using the internet and
I have found the yellow pages weren't giving me the return anymore.
She told me that I was automatically extended by 6 months so my contract
was now 18 months instead of 12 months because they were late in bring out
the yellow pages book. I was angry but I paid it.
I continued to receive a bill beyond the 18 months...so I called again. I was
told I automatically renewed my contract. I told them I had called and canceled
my contract...they told me I didn't cancel in writing so they automatically renewed
the contract. I asked why the customer service representative didn't tell me to
put it in writing. They couldn't give me an answer.
I receive a letter form them...a form letter...stating that since I received
the economic benefit of the advertising I had to pay.
This is going to be a knock out drag out fight and a total waste of my time.
I have decided to go after Windstream for The Berry Company practices
since they do their billing on the my telephone bill. I am holding Windstream
responsible for The Berry Company deceptive business practices.
I would advise you to have nothing to do with The Berry Company in any way,
shape or form.
