Yosi P. Bezroohan DDS dentist, Yosi Bezroohan dentist Santa Monica
On Yelp I see several people having the same awful experience with this place the same as me, i.e. that “this is the worst dentist experience they had in their entire life!” It is apparent that Behroozan is in a serious need of anger management. He has an utterly deplorable attitude towards patients from my experience. From reviews I read on Yelp as well, they treat people here who don’t come with expensive insurers they can fleece like cheap dirt.
The business looks like a military bunker dropped on Lincoln Boulevard. There is no clear signage as to where one is supposed to go. The reception area is hot, airless and uncomfortable under a glass skylight heating up like a pressure cooker. The place looks cheap and downtrodden like something out of a Balkan Third World country.
Dentist’s offices I've been to in many countries around the world treat patients politely, with a sense of professionalism and respect. Not this one. A business needs to be aware that their face to the world starts at the frontline which is the reception. I arrived promptly at my appointment on time yet I was ignored for 10 min. by everyone behind the glass as I'm standing there waiting for them to acknowledge me and toss the proper paperwork in front of me. That was already a bad introduction that makes a new visitor feel uneasy. After I'm led into the dentist room there is nowhere to put my stuff. The dental equipment looks 20 yrs. old like it was bought on eBay.
As I'm sitting in the dentist chair I'm still filling out the form I asked the now present dentist what this supplemental health material is supposed to be that I was supposed to have received before I sign the document. He was clearly irritated that I asked for that and I didn't just sign the form. Never mind that it’s state law to have the health info materials presented to me first and then once I have received it and read it then I’ll sign the form. This seemed to be an annoyance to the dentist. Great way to welcome a new patient.
Under the Delta Care plan I’m under the dentist is required to provide FREE comprehensive oral evaluation and X-rays. He refused to do the X-rays saying he doesn’t want to do them because of “health reasons” and insisted I go back to my old dentist and get my old X-rays. I think it’s bc he’s cheap and didn’t want the extra time and expense. According to the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry dentists even children can have X-rays every 6-months if necessary, so that was an outright lie.
Furthermore, to convey his utter disgust and that he couldn’t care less for me as a patient he did something that has never ever happened to me at a dentist. He was standing next to me while I'm in the dentist chair and without even putting the chair back and sitting down next to me, which is customary anywhere else around the world, he was just standing over me asking me to open my mouth so he could stare down into my mouth while standing there!
Also, as part of filling out the form they were asking for my driver’s license number, social security number and my full credit card info. This is a total violation of my privacy and asking way too much. I’m not even sure if it’s legal. Do they really have iron-clad security on their office computers that I can trust will not be broken into by hackers or their offices be burglarized?
At one point he asked me a question with a contemptuous tone and as I was looking ahead while seated in the dentist chair and he stood somewhat behind me - I saw him out of the corner of my eye smiling at his colleague with a look on his face that said: “we have another nutcase” haha, funny - which I consider a deplorable overt action of utter contempt and disrespect towards one’s patients. Totally unprofessional and inappropriate.
When I finally had enough of being treated like cheap dirt he atrociously called me a “problem patient” as if I was the bad guy (and that he doesn’t need me) vs. what he said were his “excellent patients.” May I ask what constitutes an “excellent patient?” One who doesn’t ask questions and doesn’t respond to your nasty attitude, your disrespectful disposition and just bow down to you as “the authority figure” while I’m providing your living as a customer?
I walked out of there very upset and disappointed by the nasty unprofessional treatment I received and the total waste of my time. It's time that we as people stand up to this kind of atrocious mistreatment and power-plays when it comes to our dental/ medical care and make sure that we avoid these kinds of businesses.
