Unauthorized "promo fees"
My husband purchased earring for our anniversary. He used his zales card as they offered 0% interest for 12 months. What they failed to mention was that there as a 9.95 fee for selecting this promotion. Are you kidding? When we contacted customer service via the website to reverse the charge, they stated he was informed at the time of purchase and it's on the back of the receipt. A.) he as not informed B.) no one reads the back of a reciept. It's hardly legible and always a bunch of jibberish. Via the secure website, I have requested the name of a manager at the corporate office, but keep getting the 800 number to customer service. I don't have time to waste with these people!!! I would say beware of these hidden charges and take your business to a company that offers better quality for both merchandise and customer service/sales.

Never buy from them
I am so livid right now! I have never, ever had a worse experience retail shopping for anything, much less expensive jewelry in my life.

My best friend bought me a beautiful pink saphire ring for Valentines Day. I saw it online and she wanted to get it for me. She had to go to 3 Zales stores before she found one...and unfortunately she ended up at the Zales in Gwinnett Place Mall.

When she went in, she told me she was pretty much ignored for a while. Finally someone decided to help her. The sales person was very pushy with her about the protection plan. She sold her the plan, telling her it was $39.99. Ashley told her she wanted to think about it.

We decided to get the plan, because it included free sizing and I needed to get it sized up to fit, because they only size they had in stock was a 7. We went back to get the plan and get it sized. The man that helped us the second time was obviously new. But we decided to discuss the plan with him and then purchase it. He told us the plan was $29.99. Wait...the lady the first time told her it was $39.99. He told us the extra $10 is an OPTIONAL theft protection plan. The first lady made no mention of it being separate...she tried to up sale Ashley without her knowledge! What a crook!

Then he was doing all the paperwork...took him forever and he had to keep calling over another sales person to help him. We stood and waited for all this for over 45 minutes. He asked me what size I needed the ring sized up to...I told him I didn't know, I would need to be sized. He brought the ring sizers over to me and just handed them to me! I had to size myself!

Finally, it was all done and he told us my ring would be ready in a week. Wait a minute...a week!? I've had 2 rings sized at Jarred and they were done in 2-4 HOURS!

Oh well, it's worth the wait...right?

Well, wait is the right word. We got a call yesterday late afternoon that my ring was ready. So Ash went this morning to pick it up. The store opens at 10am. Ashley got there a minute or 2 early. No one was there. Another employee was there waiting. Nobody. 10am passes...10:30...11:00...11:38 someone finally shows up. 1 hour and 40 minutes LATE. Now Ashley had to wait for them to open the store, count the registers and bring all the jewelry out.

FINALLY...2 hours later...Ashley finally gets my ring. I wasn't even the one waiting and I have never been so infuriated! What a way to treat your customers! I don't care if its Neiman Marcus or the Dollar Tree! Its ridiculous! Especially when they have your property that you have already paid for and you are coming to pick up. What insanity.

Not to mention, after waiting an hour...Ashely called Zales customer service number and the girl on the phone treated her so rude and wouldn't even help her contact a supervisor or anything.

NEVER EVER buy anything at Zales. Terrible.

Salesperson lied to me
I visit zales around the end of february 2011 looking to up grade my wedding set after 22 years of marriage lol. Well I pick a ring, While looking at the ring in the store I saw a black dot dead center. I asked the salesperson what was it she said it was just a diamond birth mark.

I told her that I didn't want that ring. She told me this is not the ring you would be getting since we are putting in a special order in yellow gold. So I asked her well if this diamond look like this, I dont want to purchase a ring I can't see ahead of time. She assured me I would get a better diamond. One month later the ring comes in and whats in the center a black dot uhm. I cancel the ring and went to a local jeweler.

Fake Diamons
I have bought the past present and future ring also..but i found out the diamonds are not real when i took my ring to a jeweler to have him check it out..after being repaired at the Zales repair shop.. so please have your ring examined by an expert when it is returned. The diamonds might not be real. I am now filing a lawsuit with the consumers protection bureau for Zales the rip off company.

Should be called gold plated
I bought what was suppose to be 14k gold rings and necklaces at a very good price. With gold at $1500.00 an ounce I decided to sell them. When they melted them down. Instead of having between .54 to .58 pecent gold they were at .29 percent. That is half the percentage they are suppose to be. Keep in mind when you buy a ring there you are only getting half the gold you are paying for. Take it and have it xrayed to see if it is real. Zales is a thief in my book. I will NEVER do business with them again.

Cheap
My husband bought me a 6, 500 ring from Zales and it has broken four times. You would think that if you spent that much on a ring it would never break, the quality of there jewelery sucks my husband lost one of his diamonds out of his ring to I will never BUY from there store ever again worst mistake i could have ever made. And ever time i go in to get it fixed they make us sign a paper saying that if they lose my ring they will only cover up to 1, 200 so what the ***.

Jewelers steal your valuables
I took a bracelet to ZALES to repair, the last three chains were broken off.

They said it will cost $24.99, measured it, estimated a $500 value and gave me a receipt.

A week later I got a call from a gentlemen called Glenn (not the same person who took the bracelet from me)

and he said they have to put an endcap on it and it costs $89.99.

I was really puzzled because it had an endcap on it, at the end of the three broken off chains.

I told him about this which made him confused and seemed he wanted to hide something and just

went with whatever I said, and told me he will call the jewelers and let them know.

This whole story makes me really uncomfortable because they probably lost the end of the bracelet

just don't want to tell me. They may pay the insured value of $500 but I assume the bracelet

worth more than that and this is a really convenient way for ZALES to make money.

I will keep you posted but at this point it's sure I will never ever take anything to ZALES.

Wedding Ring
My husband purchased my engagement ring/wedding ring set from Zales in June 2006. The 2 rings were soldered together in January 2007. I took the rings (as a set) back to Zales in Feb 2010 to see about having them sized up as I had a child and could not wear my ring. They told me my extended warranty didn't cover it; however, there was another warranty that was available and I could purchase that and they would upsize/downsize my ring for free at any time. So I went for it. They sized up my ring and 2 weeks later I picked it up. Well, here it is January 2011, and I had lost a lot of weight so I took my ring back to Zales to have them size it back down. They said it wouldn't be any problem and it would be back in 2 weeks. They called and I went back in 2 weeks. When I got there the lady at the counter told me there was a $40 charge. I questioned as to why the charge. She informed me that if my rings were soldered together they charge $40 to put them back together. I informed her that I was never told of that additional charge. The guy who originally sold me the warranty was there so she called him over. He immediately deleted the $40 charge. I was fine with that, but was questioning what would happen in the future if I ever upsized or downsized it again?!?

So then, I tried on my ring to make sure it fit right. It felt funny so I got to looking at it. The bottom of the ring was paper thin. So thin I could have accidentally hit it on something and it would have bent. I then pointed it out to the manager. My ring was absolutely not even close to being this thin when I dropped it off, as I am very careful with my ring and know for a fact that the bottom of it was not worn at all; however, it may have had a few scratches. The manager told me he would send it back in and have them fix it. He specifically wrote on the receipt to the jeweler that the ring was too thin. He then wrote "Rush" on it and told me he'd have them rush it back. Here it is 10 days later and I haven't heard a word from them. I am very nervous about how my ring will look when I get it back. I am wondering how good of a jeweler they actually send it to and am thinking they probably have been "stealing" gold from other people too.
