We started renting from Zenith properties in September 2008. The property looked in good condition but as soon as we moved in the problems started. The windows and door leak and everytime there is rain the kitchen counters are wet and the top rooms carpets are wet. You can imagine the smell when we get home after work. We complained about this and were promised it would be fixed, two years later it is still a problem. They say the owner will not spend the money. We carried on and about two months ago came home to house with no lights. The owner was in arrears with her rates and taxes so we sat with the problem. After numerous call to Zenith and the eletricity, the owner finally paid the outstanding amount but we had no lights until the next afternoon. When I said I would claim for the calls and meat that had gone off I was told I was not allowed.
After all this I put in our notice and the attidue from Zenith properties was "good". On the 23 June 2010 we awoke to a dripping sound and found the geyers had burst and there was water everywhere. We notified Zenith first thing and was promised it will be resolved. I mentioned I had a meeting at 1pm and need this resolved. The plumber arrived at 10h00am and I overheard him saying that we (the tenants) could not have damaged the geyser. I could not believe what i was hearing Zenith thought we had damaged the geyser on purpose? We keep phoning to find out what was happening and was told the owner wanted three quotes, fair enough. At 15hoo the plumblers finally arrived to repair the geyser and we should hopefully have warm water by 20h00. I have a four year old daughter who could not wash this morning and will have to wait unitl 20h00 to bath. My company has told me I will not be paid for today and I had to cancel a very important meeting with a client.
When I emailed Zenith and complained and told them this was unacceptable and I would lodge a complaint was told go ahead and complain! I cannot believe they have no empathy for our situation and was only asked to give my notice in writing. Please can you tell me what i can do as I do not want some else to fall into the same trap.
We are paying a fortune to stay in this house and get treated as if we are doing them a favour,
