Phone line for customer service/care
I have tried on several evenings/late afternoons/mid day (different times) to get through on XM's satellite radio customer service line/customer care phone number provided in their literature I received regarding extending my contract another year and have had very long wait times although their message says someone will be with me in approx. 5 minutes. I have not gotten through to date on this phone line to speak with a customer service representative. I do not have a computer at home and am using my firm's computer to sent this message. I NEED a phone number where a REAL PERSON will answer and respond to my questions. They obviously want to renew my contract but do not provide numbers where I can reach someone. I cannot continue to use my firm's computer to try to get through. HELP!!!

Unethical billing
Very simply stated - I had an Acura TSX that I was paying $75/quarter for radio and traffic. Let's ignore for a moment that this is a completely redicuous amount of money for crappy radio quality and traffic for the Navigation that wasn't even close to being accurate.
Long story short - I sold the Acura, and received a bill for the renewal. I ignored it, and was happy not to be paying it anymore.
So, do you think that XM called me to tell me that I needed to pay it? Nope, they auto renewed and when I didn't pay they sent me to EOCC for collection. WTF?
Oh well ... I paid the collection agency. Then I promptly called XM/Sirius and cancelled my other two radios. I hope that $75 was worth it.

Impossible to cancel an XM Sirius radio account + being severely punished and insulted
I have been a loyal XM radio listener for years. Now, I am mad as *** and will do all that I can punish XM Radio for treating me this way. Here is my horror situation in a capsule.
Considering the new economic realities, my XM Satellite Radio yearly subscription was on the list of things to cancel. My renewal date was 12/06/2010 - Fees of approximately $160 are collected in advance/charged to your credit card. On 10/04/2010 I called XM at 877-967-4672 and talked to xxx, one of their representatives. Explained to him why I was calling and asked him to do two things for me. 1) To remove my credit card # from their database (had been set up for automatic updates); and, (2) to cancel my account immediately. I told him I did not plan to renew my subscription for the foreseeable future due to economic hardship. He was polite and complied with my requests. We ended the call by giving me confirmation # for the cancellation (which I still have in my records). As expected, early in December 2010 my XM Radio service became unavailable.
Surprisingly, on January 24, 2011, I received an email from XM Radio stating I had till February 2011 to take care of the balance in my account (fees for an additional year of subscription). I immediately called XM customer service again at 877-967-4672 and this time was connected to yyy. I explained the content of their email and the reason for my surprise. I gave her my cancellation confirmation number from the previous conversation in November 2010. She could not find the number. I explained that as far as I was concerned my account had been closed. If not, would she please close it now? yyy gave me confirmation # for the cancellation and our conversation ended. I was happy that the matter was finally taken care off.
Much to my surprise, on the evening of 01/28/2011, I got a call from XM radio (XYZ this time) wanting to know when I would take care of the balance in my account. I expressed my surprise and asked I could review the background with him. He said, did I mind if our conversation was recorded -- so that he could play it back for his managers - he suggested that the reason for my out of ordinary experience was that I had not gone through the right channels for the cancellation. I agreed and proceeded to review the background - albeit that I was getting very angry having to spend so much time with this simple request. XYZ said for me to stay on line while he had his manager listen to the recording of our conversation. Then the manager will come on the line to resolve the issue. Five to ten minutes later a women's voice came on to ask me if I was ready to settle my balance! Does anyone to know how to cancel an XM radio account? I am mad as *** and will do all that I can punish XM Radio for treating me this way.

Billing
XM Satellite Radio: XM attempted to charge my old card that was reported lost and was unable to auto renew my account. I received an email stating to call them with new information which I did. I spoke to someone with an Indian accecnt (as best I could here) and gave them all new info to renew. The custopmer rep confirmed my transaction. However I received a call from Discover (3 days later) stating that account info was entered inaccurately and they blocked the charge. I proceeded to call back and verify again with a woman with an Indian accent. She could not understand what I was saying and continuosly messed up my verbiage. So I cancelled. I received a call a week later from XM stating I need to renew and they read me back the card number and asked to authorize the charge which I then stated no. Cancel my account. 2-3 weeks later my satellite radio stopped coming in. I never received a bill or notice saying I owe anything. However on December 17th (61days from Nov 16th when the radio stopped) I was sent a letter from EOS CCA. However the postmark on the letter shows Dec 27th ( I have the evidence). The issue with EOS CCA will be in another complaint. I too called XM the following day and they waived the charge. I was also given a confirmation number. This whole event lead me to cancel 2 Sirius Accounts and 1 XM account.

Deceptive billing practice
A year ago I contacted XM/Sirius Radio to close my satellite radio account due to a rate increase and low usage. I was on hold for over 1 3/4 hours undergoing three agent referrals before I reached someone who would assist. That person apologized profusely and offered me an incredibly discounted rate - for the full following year if I would continue service. I stated that my credit card must be removed from auto-billing and the agent agreed. Last week - 13 months after I agreed extending service for a year I got a bill for two months of service - with no notice at the end of my paid service. I asked for service to be terminated immediately and was told that would happen with no charges. I just received a prorated invoice for $8.47. I am taking this issue to the California Department of Consumer Affairs.

Payment
When we bought our new vehicle, we received a free trail for XM Satellite Radio. We renewed a couple of times but, this last time we decided NOT to renew. Next thing we know, we are receiving a bill for $39.78. we do NOT owe this to them as we did NOT renew. Within a few weeks of the first bill they turned us into a collection agency that won't leave us alone. This is absolutely ridiculous to do this to people who have otherwise impeccable credit JUST because we decided not to renew. And, as we speak, we are STILL receiving requests for renewal from XM Satellite Radio... How absurd! This has gotten out of hand and we are tired of it. It's not about the money, but the principal. we are so sorry we ever accepted this free trial from them. feels like we are being scammed and if we don't comply, they try to ruin our good name. Beware to all of you thinking about this company.

Fraudulant Business Practices
In 2009, I bought a new car and paid extra to have an XM radio installed, and paid for a 1-year subscription. About a month later, I rented a car for a weekend trip. The rental car had an XM radio- but it wasn't activated. I thought- well I'm an XM subscriber, so I can just pay to have this activated temporarily. It was a long drive through nowhere, and I was so far happy with my XM experience so I didn't mind paying a little bit to have satellite radio to help pass the time. The sales rep on the phone informed me that the minimum time period was 1 month, for about 13.99. Sounded a bit high, but what the heck I thought. No less than 4 times, however, I asked the rep this question: "You are sure that it will only be activated for ONE month" "This is only for ONE MONTH, right?" etc. etc. Every time he assured me it was. Fast forward about a year. I informed my wife (who does our bills) that my XM radio annual fee should renew in the next month or so (so she could expect it on the credit card statement). She said- what do you mean- we are paying every month. What? I went and looked- lo and behold this 13.95 fee had been billed every single month since my road trip (in addition to some $28 activation fee!).
No problem I thought. This is an obvious mistake and I'm a happy customer about to renew my service. Wow was I wrong. The XM rep would not refund a nickel. At least the rep was friendly (I could tell she felt bad about it). The supervisor was a professional thief. She went on and on about their terms of service. She took ZERO responsibility for the claims of her sales rep. Now you could say - well maybe I was just making it up. But I rented the car for a WEEKEND it is completely unreasonable that I would subscribe to XM for a year in a car I had just for a weekend. Her response- how do I know you only rented the car for the weekend? Really? Well I can show you the receipt. "Our terms of service..." it went around like that. ZERO responsibility on the side XM. I refuse to do business with companies whose business models are based on ripping people off- and clearly this was the case here. So I canceled my service. I then complained to my credit card company, who was willing to go back only 3 months and charge back those charges to XM. Today I got 2 pieces of mail- an offer trying to get me to reactivate my account, and a bill for the reversed 3 months charges (without any explanation what the bill is for- it just says 'previous balance'). I refuse to pay for a service I did not ask for and did not use. This company has a business model based on fraud and they can't ever bend their "rules" because once they do their house of cards will collapse.

Deceptive practices
I called to cancel my service in July, 2009. I was pre-paid through October, so the service was to be terminated on the last of the pre-paid date. After that date, they charged my MC the next 3 months without my authorization. I complained to my Master Card bank and they credited my account. Since then I've received continuous bills from XM and multiple calls from a collection agency despite four phone calls over eight months to XM. The XM representative told me each time I called my account was closed and I had no balance due. The latest call I made today (February 19, 2010) after receiving yet another collection call. After complaining yet again, they told me my account was NOW closed and that I had NO balance due. We'll see.
DO NOT EVEN CONSIDER SIGNING UP WITH SIRIUS XM!! They are totally unethical! And if you are trying to get out of a current contract with them, be aware that canceling ahead of the final date does NOT work. Apparently the fine print in their contracts require that you call them on the LAST date of your currently paid-through time period in order to prevent them from charging you for the NEXT period.
SLEAZY, SLEAZY. Just say NO!! XM is the worst company I've ever dealt with.

Money fraud
I received a 3-month free trial period for XM Satellite Radio in my new 2010 Toyota Prius. I never used the XM. At the end of the free period, XM telephoned my husband and gave him a hard sell.
They told him that we could have another month for free. I don't know why he agreed to another free month b/c I never used it (I'm the primary driver of the vehicle), but he did. After that free month was up, I got a $38 bill in the mail for the next month, so I called to complain.
XM's customer service department is absolutely terrible. The first lady I spoke to could barely speak English, and she hung up on me after I was on hold for over 30 minutes. The second person I spoke to cancelled the account but refused to cancel the $38 service fee. I demanded to speak w/ a supervisor, and it took over an hour to finally speak to a supervisor. He also refused to cancel the $38 fee for a service I didn't want and never used. He said that they had a record that we called them in Nov and asked them to extend the XM. I told him his records were wrong b/c his statement was a complete lie. The entire process took over 2 hrs.
I would advise all any person interested in satellite radio to never do business w/ this company. For any person buying a new car, don't buy a car that has XM loaded on it. Make the car company take it off before you drive off the lot b/c the individuals at XM satellite radio are complete scheisters and will think nothing about stealing your hard earned money from you.
