We purchased a GAP policy with a local dealership for a 2006 Ford Focus. The vehicle was totaled in DEC 08. There was an extension on the vehicle for a month but that was it. Based on their policy of using an amortization calcuator and utilizing the lowest of the payment history versus what the bank paid off. Their policy is to utilize the lesser of the two. They towed her car to an impound lot (Rose Towing) an stored her car there for a few hours until she could get a release of impound from the CHP. I was very confident about the result, but when told the loan had been denied, I then asked for my 10% deposit of $13, 000 to be returned. my vechile was drailed part way into the automated car wash. We were stuck inside no one came to help, I honk for a few minutes still no assistance. I was able to back up over the rail enough to get my 5 year old out to safety. my vechicle is still party stuck in the car wash with it still running. I purchased a new Nissan Maxima in 2007 and two years later with 95, 000 Kilometers the air compressor needed to be replaced at a cost of nearly $2000 including the part, labor and taxes. The warranty expired at 60, 000 and the company refused to cover it even though it is a part that should not break down. Although the Maxima is a nice vehicle I would not recommend buying one and only buy a Nissan if you are willing to spend money on an extended warranty. The 2003 Ford Taurus that I bought almost 3 years ago had a spring suddenly snap (break) causing the tire to be punctured on the front drivers side of the vehicle. I have had 3 mechanics tell me that this is a common problem on the Ford Taurus. My car is unsafe to drive now and sits parked in front of my residence. I brought my car in to get the brakes fixed 6 months ago. Brakes continue to squeal despite 3 attempts to fix it over 5 months. After 3 attempts it keeps getting worse. The latest position with my Jag is the car is to be towed from Harrogate (breakdown area) to Stratstone (Preston Hall). Stratstone are preparing quotes on my behalf to hand the car over as scrap.
