My mother was called today. Told she won $225, 000 from a Megabox Sweepstakes. She was called by "John Rogers" who claimed to be a Pastor in Pennsylvania. He was very convincing and even though she knew from the start that this was a Scam, she was still interested enough that she wanted me to call to check it out. My parents are getting called 3-4 times a day from a Mr. Davis and Rose from Jamaica. 876-551-6584 / 786-898-8552. We were able to get Western Union to block my mother from sending anymore money to these con artist. However, they are now asking her to send a Money Gram. We are still talking and talking. My mother got a call from someone claiming to be Omar Jansen today. She was to call 876-583-1222. He provided a UPS package # (invalid number), bank account # (bank name curiously absent), etc... all in an effort to prove that he was legit. Rather than just preaching conservatorship, conservatorship, conservatorship... any ideas on how to simply block the calls from getting through? I received scam phone calls wanting me to call an 876 number. The men are trying to tell me that have won 2.5 million and also the reimbursement of the money I have been scammed for. The names being used are Mark Mozalo and Mark Mc? You can tell these are not Americans by their accent. The phone numbers they are using are 876-492-6493 and 876-302-9115. My mother fell for the "Car and cash prize winner" bit hook line and sinker. She had enough sense to tell me, but only after seven wire transfers totaling over 6000US dollars. I tried to order three bottles of Calorad from Asantae.com. The minute I put my credit card information in the form, It was gone!!! No way to verify what I had ordered. Imagine the shock when I received the bill for over $333.00. They said I would have to pay them a 10% restocking fee to return the NINE (not three bottles ) they sent me. Even though my 90 year mother's local phone service was turned she continued to receive bill from Qwest. When the service was cancelled via phone call she was not told that she had to contact the long distance provider seperately to cancel the service. First, on the back of EVERY receipt AND listed on the big policy board above the service desk, it states" no receipt, no return", that simple. I bought this model range Aug 2010. I always buy Whirlpool products and have been happy with them. I had a ceramic top stove before this one and loved it. This one, however, is horrible. The ceramic top is impossible to keep clean. I clean before and after use. Grease, etc sticks and you have to clean several times before it comes off. The accubake is not very accurate. He was contacted by the Better Business Bureau who was contacted by the 'American Money Mart' (I think that's what he called it) to assist them in delivering a large sum of money. But there is also following statement in the fine print of fair usage policy: "Vonage World Canada plan is subject at all times to a limit of 3000 minutes ..."
