For novice authors who may not be aware of services that research publishing companies and watchdog authentic publishers, the receipt of a personal, signed letter from a publisher is exciting, but one doesn't know until the third paragraph they are not a commercial publisher and it's just another plea for the unrepresented author to spend money. In March a representative from U.S. Subscription Services kept calling about a deal that they had for us to BlackBelt Magazine, which we have a subscription in my son's name, who is a minor. The agent told us they had a deal for us to extend the subscription for 3 years, because Black Belt was raising its prices. They wanted a credit card number which I refused to give them. Four charges for magazines appeared on my credit card statement. I never received any notice of renewal which should be criminal. When I called TWX at 1-800-927-9651, I got an automated system that allowed me to cancel my magazine. BEWARE: Please listen very carefully to all the options as only one allows you to cancel your magazines and receive a credit on your statement for the issues you want to cancel. This company was so quick to talk me into getting me magazine subscriptions at a cheaper price than normal. However, they did not begin shipping me the magazines until 3 months later. After I asked them if I could cancel, they said that I would have had to mail in the cancelation notice and they would have had to receive it two days after I spoke with them on the phone. Previously in my apartment complex TVMAX was the only cable service provided, unless you wanted to get DISH and lock yourself into a contract. This companies service as far as install and issues.. is terrible.. either they don't show up and you have to reschedule. This happened in 2007. I met their sales consultant in the Westfield shopping centre. He showed me a software on Horse racing betting which followed the "smart money" and had "sure profits". The sales consultant of their company told me that it is a 'sure thing' and there are 'guaranteed profits' to this. Global Readers or whatever they are calling themselves today. Almost three years ago I started handling all the bills for my fiance. Global readers was one of his bills. Since he worked nights and they would call early in the morning when he was half asleep, he had no idea what it was. I contacted them to find out who they were and what their service was. In light of the Ross and Brand situation and the foul language used and the unacceptable behaviour, I would like to make an additional general complaint. I had a $20 charge on my credit card from WPI PArenting MAG, yet I never subscribed to this magazine. When I called the mag to complain, they said it was the fault of the Destination maternity. I had a similar experience with the Verizon of being way overcharged. I subscribed to the offer Verizon Triple Freedom for 59.99 - $10 for first six months = 49.99 (also it said First Month of TV and Internet FREE). Their real company name is Photos R Us. The man in charge "Brad" who doesn't even have his full name on his card is a conman and makes it seem like you are passing up an immediate opportunity if you think or wait too long. In June, 2007, while home on R & R Leave from the Gulf War, my wife and I purchased a TV, with an In-component DVD Player. Model Number 32MD251D/37. Within a month of purchase, the DVD player began to freeze up after playing a DVD for about ten minutes. Although it was outdated for there return policy they took it and sent me another- no charge. I ordered 2 remanufactured 500 cadillac engines $4935.00 in April of 2008. They sent older models than I ordered, they where not fully assembled, missing parts and some of the parts they did use where unserviceable or partially cleaned. I tried to call them, no response yet. The company who actually did the remanufacture? was Blaines Motor Supply Co. in Dallas Tx. I called them 214-426-4400 and received a bunch of BS about the problems I'm experiencing. I've been a licensed mechanic for 25 yrs. and order 4 of these engines per year.
