In 2003 we purchased a used 2001 Lexus RX300 and the extended warranty for $1500 from George Harte Infiniti in West Haven Connecticut. The warranty we purchased was for a further 60,000 miles (giving us 100,000 miles) or 48 months which ever comes first. Last year I purchased an HP Laptop from Sam's Club. The factory warranty from HP was one year. I purchased an additional 2 years warranty from Sam's. My first year service from HP was excellent. I was contacted (via the school I attend that sells my information to these companies) by this company who sells magazines and strong-armed into purchasing a magazine subscription. I was assured I would not be billed, however, I was immediately billed. There is nothing the credit card company can do for me as it is a ‘pending’ transaction. I have a SAAB 95 Year 2000, a month after the warranty ran out my engine failed. I was told by many mechanics that this was a common problem of that years SAAB. The problem occurred, because the SAAB turbo-charger failed and caused an immediate loss of oil which in-turn destroyed the engine. I purchased an MP3 player for my son for Christmas 2006. It was a model H100. Before New Years Day it had froze up and we couldn't get it to work. I called their tech support at the number listed on the instruction manual in the box, which incidentally had been changed. Almost six months ago I received a notice in the mail from Harbor Freight indicating that I had accumulated bonus points and was being offered “free” magazine subscriptions as a means to redeem those points. Tom Adams Builders was hired to do some backfill work around our home. We advanced him the payment ($500), so that he could afford to hire a crane to lift his bobcat out of a ditch that an employee had driven into. He agreed to return with his bobcat and do the backfill work. He never return, avoided our calls, made up excuses when we did get in touch with him and when finally confronted, told us that he would not be doing the work. He is keeping the money. A woman came to my door with a sob story about raising money by selling magazines. I wrote up a check for a magazine and was given a receipt saying: "THIS SUBSCRIPTION PROCESSED THROUGH PAM Corp." My son has one of these units and it works great with multiple equipment. I ordered one of the units from LCTVs.com but was not told that the manufacturer no longer allows the consumer to download instructions and codes which enable the remote control to operate. The manufacturer said that they stopped allowing the download in August of 2006 and informed all their dealers. I was scheduled for equipment installation on feb 14, 2007. Installation was to be between 8 am and 12 pm. I received an automated call on feb 12 verifying the appointment. At about 12:30 pm on the 14th i called direct tv to ask why the installer had not shown. After several conversations with different people, i was told by "angelica" that the work order had been misrouted and could not be completed today. I accessed via the internet survey website and was offered a product by Fastauction.com/Las Vegas for $1.97. They charged my bank account for this amount. One week later another charge for $49.95 was made from my bank account . 5 days later another $49.95 was charged and again 3 days later $16.95. This past weekend ( Feb. 9-10) I had to go to a hockey tournament for my daughter. The team had to book before we got the schedule, and the days inn has a policy that teams are to book for 2 nights minimum.
