With spring vacation nearing, I would like to warn all American who are traveling to Mexico to stay away from the Mexican Timeshare scam. We consented to a 90 minute presentation that lasted 4 hours and consented to their vacation plan while in Playa del Carmen Mexico. However before we left - 5 days later - decided this was not for us. It cost us almost $1500 for this foolish mistake. We did get out but at that price. They said there was NO get out clause. Franchisee, John H. Wolf, has allowed his motel manager, Lee Judson, to engage in an egregiously questionable business practice. His manager has insinuated my wife and I are engaged in criminal activities by lumping us in with prostitutes, drug dealers and their ilk by putting us on his Do Not Rent list. I have a problem with the way TrekAmerica tries to paint this picture that trek groups become like family....they even go as far as to have the tour guides mention this the first day we depart for our trip. In November 2006, I booked a return air journey Mumbai-Kolkata-Mumbai through makemytrip, which claims to be a leading online travel booking company. This past weekend ( Feb. 9-10) I had to go to a hockey tournament for my daughter. The team had to book before we got the schedule, and the days inn has a policy that teams are to book for 2 nights minimum. Had booked 4 nights at the Essex House through Hotels.com (Expedia). My stay there was very unsatisfactory. The hotel room was worn and dirty, the staff was rude and unpleasant, the mechanics of the building kept falling apart, I had to make several phone calls and wait 4 hours to get a mini bar opened. Cheap trips is a scam. First they coerced me into a membership through false promises of another product. I think it was an I pod or something (I know I'm an idiot). Then they make you wait for a package for your password. Once I got the password I logged on discovered they really just forward you to reputable sites like orbitz for there good fares. I then tried to cancel and was told I had to do it by mail. I called the "customer support line" 10 times and got nothing but a busy signal. I booked 4 tickets with BA on 23 Jan via their website. I booked in South Africa. By 25 Jan i had not received any e-ticket. I checked my credit card and no debits were present. I went back to the web site and tried to book the same flight again. The price had increased to R34000 (from R31800). I booked a flight with SAA at R26000. On Jan 27 my credit card showed a debit from BA. My bank confirmed that BA delayed processing the card transaction. BA also advised this is "because the card debits are done via London". Whenever I travel by Bus of KSRTC particularly in long distance routes to Chennai some lady conductors don't return the remainder of change when say Rs500 or Rs1000 are tendered for the purchase of ticket of values say Rs 300 etc. They scribble at the back of the ticket, but at the end of the journey they refuse the dues from the company. I booked a holiday with Broads Travel, when we arrived at the destination the hotel apartment that Broads Travel booked was not what we expected there where broken items in the hotel room, also burns in the carpet and stains on curtains. Recently while on an equestrian competition tour, my wife, our seven children, & I, stayed at a motel recommended to us by a chamber of commerce official of Alameda County, California. August, 2006 we stayed at the Grand Mayan in Nuevo Vallarta, and after Seven hours of high pressure promises we purchased. Based on an "Equity Exchange" of our Florida timeshare, we were required to sign a contract that waived our five day cool-down or right to rescind period. I am a resident of the Beltsville/Calverton, Maryland 20705 for the past 22 years. I regularly would go over to the Ramada Inn which is located in the Calverton Shopping Center located off of Powdermill Road and Beltsville Drive. After taking off my contacts after work and picking up my glasses, I realize the frame holding the lens was cracked and one of the legs severely bent out of shape. The Housemaid Manager said that she has talked to the housemaid named Harold and he said that I've always put my glasses behind the lamp and that he did not touch them. I also had a horrible experience! I was suckered into this by being told I was entered into a draw and that I won a vacation package. I unfortunately signed up, but was lucky enough to realize my mistake in time and asked for a refund 1 hour after signing up. I got the run around for over a week, first being told that my package would be canceled promptly, and later being told that there were absolutely NO REFUNDS. My wife and I were going to Cozumel on a scuba diving trip. We were to fly from Orlando to Atlanta onto Cozumel. The first plane we were to fly on had mechanical problems, the second had mechanical problems and showed up late to Orlando. We missed our connecting flight to Cozumel. My family and I were booked on flight 678 Orlando to White Plains on January 15 (8:25am scheduled departure). Crowne Plaza hotels are owned by Marriott and the Intercontinental Hotel Group. We stayed in the Crowne Plaza in Guadalajara, Mexico.
