I am writing this on July 28, 2010. It all started 3 years ago when we moved to Durango and bought our townhome. Bought carpet at Home Depot. Waited the 3 weeks for it to get here only to find out they forgot to place the order. 3 weeks later it finally comes, installers do a HORRIBLE job (i.e. ripples across the living room and the carpet doesn't even meet the walls on the stairs. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS MAN OR HIS COMPANY. GMen Construction is a contractor that does home repair and remodel in and around Vallejo, CA and Solano, Contra Costa, Alameda and Napa counties. The contractor, Billy Oliver, is a crook who assaulted me in my home and stole $32, 000 insurance funds distributed for my home repair, disappearing without a word, avoiding phone calls and contact. My husband and I bought a fixer-uper house because of it's location (right next to my Mom and Dad). I had this company come out and install a sprinkler system, all the time the owner stated that he understood my concerns for plants. I also paid extra to route the system so that it would not encroach onto my neighbors property. I bought 7000.00 worth of lament flooring back in April of this year. On June 25th we noticed some of the boards (about 7 or so) were bulging. I tried working with Empire today’s customer service dept. and all I get is a sorry we can’t help you. Here is what happen. It seems according to their standards, 98 for 10 minutes worth of work is a break. I had my stove top replaced by Harp Appliance which cost me a fair amount of money to order the part and installation. When the installation occurred within one month period, my stove top was loose. When we signed the windows, doors & more contract we were assured that the roofing crew would clean up after themselves. We were specifiably told that they would thoroughly 'sweep' the ground with their stick mounted magnet to pick up all stray nails. I used to be a roofer, I KNOW it can be done with maybe, MAYBE one or two nails missed if it is done repeatedly. BUYER BEWARE...This furniture store has done everything possible to rip me off. I gave them a $50 deposit on a night stand in December 2008. They never got the furniture for me and they refused to return my deposit. I tried contacting several government agencies for assistance but no one could help. Finally I called the North Carolina Attorney General's office a year ago and they were a great help. I purchased a Haier Commercial Cool air conditioner 03/2010. By June 2010 it was not working. I conducted all the trouble shooting options to no avail. The thing just will not turn on. I contacted costumer service. After a brief run around, I was finally given a ticked number and date for servicing. Well, that sounds great and all, however, the technician never showed up. I called again only to be told their records indicate my unit was serviced. Now I am stuck between a rock and hard place. Think long and hard before you take your chances with Closets by Design or you may be in for a big dissappointment! My media room cabinets are a mess from incorrect measurements by designer Lynn M. The installer took over an hour to figure out how he could compensate for Lynns mistakes. I ended up with an ugly mess, and damage to my walls. I called to have a kitchen facet installed and was told it would be $185.00 for the facet and one hour labor to install. Well after it was all done he had his assistant plumber do the work they charged for two hours labor and I ask why and they said it took an hour to pick up the facet. So it cost $345.00 for the facet and installation. This company advertise itself as an awning Company. I agree to have them make me two awnings. one for window, and one for a door. I gave him a picture of what I wanted. I purchased a power miser to conserve energr, electricity in July, 2009. As part of the inducement, I was to receive vouchers for gas and groceries totaling $600 each at $50 per month. I sign up for the first company and submitted receipts totalling over $50 dollars but never received a voucher. They think its perfectly reasonable, to charge you $410 for twenty minutes of labor, with no parts. That's right, snaking a pipe that has a small blockage in it. I signed a contract with Berg Roofing to do a complete re-roof of our house in September 2009 and the work was finished in October 2009 and paid in full. We where told by the company that if anything ever went wrong with their product, it would be fixed or replaced for life. I replaced every window in my house. He built our home back in 2005 and went over 30% of what he originally quoted. Now my home is 5 years old and everything is falling apart. He put a P Joint in the attic and it recently leaked all over our roof. We have had several plubming problems and other problems with paint chipping, doors falling apart and many other items.
