Hi, during my time in NZ, we hired a vehicle from United Vehicle Rentals they did not tell us about a 5000 dollar excess that had to be paid in order to pick up the vehicle from them. So upon arrival in NZ we went to pick up the vehicle and were demanded to pay the 5000 dollars. i got caught in the same scam. they send you a cheque and ask you to cash it. they then ask you tto send money to them via moneygram. after that you can go and spend all the money you want out of the rest of the cheque. only problem is 2 days after the cheque bounces and it is hard to get a hold of the person. Once the movers came to my house we repeatadly asked to see if we are over the max allowable to us, they said no. Later the next day my wife recieved an email stating we owed them an additional $3, 050 for overflow. Do NOT buy or sell anything to them as most of the time accounts turned out to be hacked or stolen, hence resulted banned. Even though they demanded a credit card and I had a valid id from both federal and another state they wouldn't rent me a carpet cleaner. I had a leak and so I had to go home and hope that the carpet wouldn't get moldy. They made me wait 20 minutes for the person who handled the carpet cleaner rental to stop "being busy" to help me. Car Renter Beware! Recently I needed to rent a vehicle while mine was in the shop for repairs. It was a short term rental, only 3 days. When I picked up the vehicle they tried to talk me into taking their bumper to bumper car insurance for $12.00 plus some change per day and I informed them that I had excellent insurance and would not need the extra coverage.
